I’m honored to continue my leadership of Arroyo Vista Elementary, and it’s my pleasure to welcome everyone to a new school year. Whether you’re a returning family, new to our school, or a community member learning more about Arroyo Vista, I’m excited to share the values and vision guiding us this year.
The theme that will influence our work in the 2025-26 school year is inspired by the marigold—a flower known for helping nearby plants grow stronger. It’s a reminder that we’re at our best when we support one another, look out for each other, and create space for everyone to thrive.
In my time at Arroyo Vista, I’ve seen this spirit in action every day. I’ve watched staff members go out of their way to make sure students feel seen, supported, and successful. I’ve seen students include one another, offer encouragement, and help create a welcoming space for their peers. And I’ve seen parents bring joy and connection to our campus through events like the All School Sing and the Jog-a-Thon - experiences that help our students feel rooted in something bigger than themselves. These experiences reflect the heart of our marigold theme: nurturing growth through care, consistency, and community.
The support of the South Pasadena community is a vital part of what makes Arroyo Vista such a special place. I want to extend my sincere thanks to the South Pasadena Educational Foundation and the Arroyo Vista PTA for the countless ways they enrich our students’ experiences—through funding, programs, and the kind of behind-the-scenes work that makes everything run more smoothly. Our staff is deeply grateful for their partnership and dedication. This year, we invite everyone in our community to join us and to ‘Be a Marigold’ - to nurture, support, and help each other grow.
Sincerely,
Emily Blaney, Principal
