Welcome to the 2023-24 school year at Arroyo Vista Elementary! One of the best things about beginning a new school year is that it’s like starting the first chapter of a great book because it  promises wonderful possibilities moving forward. I am excited to welcome back our new and returning students and families to Arroyo Vista Elementary. Together with the amazing AV staff, we will add learning, fun, and lots of Wildcat school spirit to our 2023-34 story!

It is my honor to serve the Arroyo Vista community as Principal for the 2023-24 school year. My goal is to ensure that every student succeeds academically, socially, and emotionally. Our state test scores were strong, and I am extremely proud of the accomplishments of our students and our teachers last year. The social and emotional needs of our students will be met with increased school counseling support this year. This, along with regular check-ins with teachers in the form of class meetings, use of the Second Step curriculum, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) will ensure our students are feeling supported and learning the skills necessary to thrive. 

Our schools thrive because of the support of all of our community members. I am confident that our community will continue to work together to make the 2023-34 school year the best it can be for our students. Our PTA and our Educational Foundation support many of our programs, and I hope you can find ways to join, volunteer, and/or donate to these important organizations. 

As my predecessor, Kim Sinclair, stated so eloquently last year, "One of the greatest characteristics of the Arroyo Vista learning community is the genuine care and compassion shared between staff, students, and parents. Arroyo Vista Elementary is a place where staff and families come together to ensure that the children entrusted into our care grow to be productive, confident, compassionate, members of a global society." I am excited to start the year with thoughtful goals in mind for our students and will help our AV Wildcats achieve their goals, as well.
