End of Year Letter from Superintendent Yantz

Dear SPUSD Parents and Guardians,

It has been wonderful for me to visit classrooms at all schools this semester and to spend time with employees and students over the past few weeks. I am always impressed by the teaching and learning taking place on our campuses. Students are actively engaged and enjoying their work. It is obvious that everyone is deeply committed to restoring normalcy in our school communities, and the students benefit greatly from these efforts.

During the final few days of school, we have so much to celebrate - students’ final performances, showcases, promotions, and graduation. It is important for all of us to take the time to appreciate the students’ achievements and encourage them to find joy in their accomplishments.

A big thank you goes out to our employees who are retiring this year. We want to express our sincerest thanks for your years of service to the students in South Pasadena, and we wish you the best in your future endeavors. The impact you have on our students is critical to their success and our society’s future.

As a reminder, with schools closed for the summer, the District will suspend sending notifications about cases of COVID-19. We continue to participate in weekly calls with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and will keep you updated on any changes to protocols prior to the start of the next school year.

Because of our teachers, staff, and parents, lives are being shaped and futures are being planned. We’re grateful to everyone who contributes to our success and to all the students who give us hope. We can say with pride that we have helped these students reach their full potential. Let us continue to help them grow into people who are unique, creative, amazing, and loved.

Have a great summer!

Sincerely,

Geoff Yantz, Ed.D.
Superintendent
