What's happening this week?

February 1, 2016

Dear Parents and Students,

The first month of 2016 just flew by! A new month means a new character trait to focus on. This month AV is focusing on responsibility. Check out the new character page by clicking the link on the top of the page.  This is what is happening this week:

Tuesday: 1st grade groundhog observation, 4/5th grade Ink Drinkers after school

Thursday: School Site Council meeting

Friday night is the opening night of SPEF's 5th grade musical: The Lion King Jr. Check out the flyer in the news section below for show time information. It will surely be a spectacular performance.

Have a great week!

Join us in the courtyard for the January Awards Assembly @ 8:20!

I attended Arroyo Vista, SPMS, and SPHS and received my Bachelors degree in History from Long Beach State. I played division 1 water polo at LBSU for 4 years. After graduating I decided to go overseas to continue playing professionally. I played almost two years in Budapest, Hungary, a season in Brazil, and a season in Barcelona this past year. Since 2013, I have worked in between seasons as a classified substitute teacher for the district. I also coach water polo at Westridge and Rosebowl club. I love all sports and  I'm extremely happy to be instructing PE at Arroyo Vista.

Mrs. Baydaline is thrilled to be the new Library Technician for AV. She received Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Slavic Studies from Duke University and a Master of Arts in Film Production from the USC School of Cinema-Television. Mrs. Baydaline worked in the film industry before starting a family.  She has two children, both of whom attended Arroyo Vista. (Lauren is now a freshman at Westridge and Christian is in 6th grade at the middle school.)

Mrs. Baydaline has worked as a Special Education Instructional Aid for SPUSD for the past four years. During the summer she works for SPEF Summer School teachong Filmmaking, Creative Writing, and Public Speaking.

Fun facts about Mrs. Baydaline:

  • She does Freelance photography, videography, and graphic design.
  • A huge Duke basketball fan.
  • Love to read!
  • She loves writing.
