Peanut Free Policy

Arroyo Vista Elementary is PEANUT FREE. We have a growing number of students dealing with serious peanut allergies. If exposed to peanuts, some students may develop a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment. Strict avoidance of peanut products is the only way to prevent a life-threatening allergic reaction. We are asking for your assistance in providing all of our students with a safe learning environment.

All families need to adhere to the following safety guidelines:

SNACKS & LUNCHES & CLASSROOM CELEBRATIONS

Please do not send any peanuts, peanut butter, or food containing peanuts to school. It takes only the slightest smell, touch, ingestion of peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil, a product that "may contain trace amounts of peanuts" to cause a potential anaphylactic reaction. Please take a few seconds to read the labels of any prepackaged product before sending the item to school.

MINIMIZNG CROSS CONTAMINATION

We are placing great importance on hand washing and sanitizing after students eat. Any exposure to peanuts through contact or ingestion can cause a severe reaction in some of our students. If your child eats peanut butter or products containing peanuts for breakfast, we would greatly appreciate you making sure that his/her hands are washed with soap and water before leaving for school.

Arroyo Vista is dedicated to providing a safe environment for all of our children. We trust that you understand how deeply important it is to respect and adhere to these guidelines.
