Principal's Message
Happy New School Year!

Thank you for welcoming me to Arroyo Vista Elementary School. My first month here has been filled with happy faces, supportive parents and staff, encouraging words, and excited children and families. AV is such a special place. I am overjoyed to be in a position to positively impact the lives of teachers and students.

Thanks to the PTA parents who have been working so hard since my arrival to get the school off to a successful start. We celebrated a successful opening of AV last night at the Welcome Back Family Picnic with families and teachers. I asked a child at the picnic how school is going and her reply was, “I love school! I want to be here everyday of the week. I wish I could even spend the night here.” That brought a smile to my face. It was very nice to fellowship with parents and for the children to play together outside of school hours.

Team AV is a strong team, onethat I am honored to be part of. It became even stronger over the summer with the addition of three new people. Mrs. Laura Eng will serve as the resource specialist teacher, Ms. Jennifer O’Brien will be working at AV two days per week as an intervention counselor, and Ms. Christina Kim has joined our second grade team of teachers. All come highly recommended and have much to contribute to the team. We are so excited they are here.

My vision for AV this year is to continue to build an ideal school environment where students feel safe, comfortable, challenged and engaged in class. Students and staff will continue to celebrate values and each other, teachers will feel supported in their teaching and inspired to try new things, teaching and assessments will be standards-based, teachers will be happy and love their job and their students, collaboration will come naturally, the school campus will stay impeccably clean and beautiful, parents will be involved in school activities and classrooms, teachers and parents will work collaboratively to support the student, the principal will be in the classroom “where the action is” in order to support the teachers, students, and to assess the needs of the school, and of course, where students will continue to achieve academically at very high levels. Arroyo Vista is an ideal school and will continue to be. My goal is that together we can make all of these characteristics of an ideal school happen successfully at AV this year. Only together is this possible. We are TEAM AV! I thank you for taking on this challenge to benefit and support your child and his/her experience at AV.

To an AWESOME and SUCCESSFUL year TOGETHER!
